2012: The Next Step

I believe that 2011 was a tough year for many businesses both small and large alike. Solutions Rendered was no exception, and while we too felt the impact of the global economy we were fortunate enough to have been able to use that economic shift as an opportunity to diversify our operations, expand our business model, and grow our business beyond our initial expectations.

In September we launched our hosting division, Assured Hosting, which allowed us to draw a separation between our creative areas and the underlying foundations used for content delivery. This gave us a lot more flexibility in our hosting model and sizeable cost savings which we were able to immediately pass on to our clients in the shape of reduced domain management and hosting prices.

This year we will be putting a lot of energy into mobile computing. We’ve some exciting projects planned, new web delivery systems, and mobile applications for phones and tablets. We’ve high expectations for 2012 and the upcoming years.

To all of our clients who helped make our 2011 a success, we thank you. May each and every one of you have a successful and prosperous 2012. We look forward to doing business with you and helping you achieve that goal.

Email and website outages

We’ve had a few clients report that their email and websites aren’t working since the hosting migration took place. It’s vital that your domain name be directed to our new servers. We were able to seamlessly migrate all our clients whose domain names we control. Our clients who have their domain registrations handled through other vendors need to arrange for those DNS entries to be pointed to our new address. Emails were sent out prior to the migration with instructions outlining those changes. If you’re still not certain what needs to be done, please don’t hesitate to contact us so that we can resolve any outstanding issues.

Goodbye Internet Exporer 6

IE6 was originally released on August 27, 2001. Over the last 10 years it has been a non-compliant thorn in the side of developers world wide. Each year its popularity decreases as people upgrade to later versions and other browsers.

Over the last few years Solutions Rendered has done its best to cater to the minority of people who still use this out dated browser. We did this as part of our inclusions when we built a site for our clients. Not any more.

In the interest of delivering a better service to our clients we are no longer supporting IE6 as a standard in our sites. Microsoft even launched their own site dedicated to driving it out of existence. Visit www.ie6countdown.com for more information.

We will be more than happy to generate a quote for any clients who feel the absolute need to have support for IE6 in their websites. It takes a lot of time and effort to design websites that cater for all the variations of browsers on the market. That time has to come at a cost somewhere.

If you’re still using IE6 then its high time to upgrade. You’re missing out on an awful lot on the Internet, and helping to stifle progress.

Our brand new hosting servers are all in place, fired up, and raring to go!

With these additions come a number of changes starting with the look of our website. We felt it was about time to dust off some of the cobwebs and bring things up to date a little more. We’ll be adding a lot more to the site over the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

We’ve also expanded our hosting solutions. In order to provide cheaper domain registrations, hosting packages, and better options for those wanting to try their own hand at website creation, we’ve created a new hosting company named Assured Hosting. Here you will be able to purchase domain names, and hosting space, handle renewals, and access your accounts with us. We’re still in the process of finalising the site, but we have some special offers in store for the grand opening. Watch this space!
